About PrivOps

Built by a practitioner.
Not a consultant.

There's a difference between someone who has studied enterprise data coordination and someone who has shipped real systems at scale, closed $58M in a year, and spent a decade watching coordination failures play out in production environments. PrivOps was built by the latter.

Founder & Principal

Tyler Johnson

PrivOps was founded by Tyler Johnson, an enterprise infrastructure practitioner with 25+ years spanning silicon design, enterprise sales, cloud platform strategy, and data architecture. His thesis on coordination failure isn't theoretical—it comes from watching it play out across industries, at scale, with real consequences.

He holds 25 patents in data integration, identity, and enterprise coordination infrastructure—a portfolio cited by Amazon, Microsoft, and Salesforce. PrivOps was built to deliver the execution model enterprises can't get from analysts, advisors, or vendor professional services teams.

1996 – 2000
TRW Automotive / Siemens ICN
Engineer → Cross-functional Team Lead
Managed outsourced IC design to European manufacturers. Supported a $150M customer win. First exposure to the cost of coordination failure across systems and suppliers.
2000 – 2008
Hewlett-Packard
Silicon Engineer → Enterprise Sales → Enterprise Alliances
Designed silicon for HP's Superdome server line (SX2000 chipset). Built automation that eliminated $5M in test equipment. Closed $58M in server revenue in a single year. Grew a strategic account from $2.2M to $17M. This is where the pattern of "coordination as the bottleneck" first became visible at scale.
2008 – 2010
NetApp
Alliance Manager, Global System Integrators
Co-launched CSC's first private cloud offering on NetApp infrastructure. Designed a "Top 100" co-sell strategy that generated 20+ joint enterprise wins in 60 days. Early exposure to the GTM mechanics of infrastructure platforms.
2011 – 2015
Rackspace
CTO & Product Line Leader, VMware Hosting Services
Led go-to-market and product strategy during Rackspace's critical shift from hosting to cloud. Built the business case for strategic platform bets. Worked directly with enterprise sales to turn infrastructure capabilities into commercial traction. Friction patterns from this role directly shaped PrivOps.
2015 – present
Convergent Technology Advisors
Principal, Independent Advisory Practice
Advised PE firms, investment firms, CEOs, CFOs, and CIOs on strategy, competitive dynamics, and enterprise readiness in the IT sector. Helped Fortune 500 clients modernize legacy systems. This work surfaced the repeatable data and integration pain across sectors that became the founding thesis for PrivOps.
2017 – present
PrivOps
Co-Founder & CEO
Built and operates PrivOps as a partner helping enterprises modernize data and infrastructure systems. Delivered the Matrix Integration Fabric and ABAC Manager—production-ready, patent-protected systems. Engaged directly with CIOs, CHROs, and CROs across financial services, MSP, and enterprise environments. Delivered automation frameworks cutting operational cycle times by 90%+.

The PrivOps Difference

Why CIOs call us instead of the usual suspects

⚙️
We've built the systems
Not just advised on them. Tyler designed silicon, built cloud products, and shipped production data systems. That's not the background of a typical consulting firm.
📐
We execute, not just recommend
Most advisory relationships end with a deck. PrivOps engagements end with working systems—governance enforced, integrations running, access automated.
🔒
We touch existing debt carefully
Our coordination layer sits above your current systems. Oracle, SAP, homegrown data marts stay where they are. We make them work better without a rip-and-replace.
